In 2001 I received my phd in social psychology. Since then I conduct scientific research, teach Master students in psychology, and provide coaching and therapy, both offline and online. In my coaching and therapy I used evidence-based techniques from especially third generation cognitive behavioral therapy such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy (IBCT). About my way of working I wrote several books (see below).
The pressures of today’s society often make people confused about their feelings, their purpose in life and gets them stressed out. I encourage clients to take an honest look at themselves and their relationships, to discover their true values and to start living according to these values. Often this means that people have to let go of restrictive beliefs, thoughts or (childhood) experiences, and make behavioral changes - for instance learning to say ‘no’ to other people. Only by making choices that reflect their authentic beliefs and values people may live a fulfilling life, one that suits them instead of one that suits other people's needs or expectations.
I have written the following books about the methods I use to coach and guide clients, see for instance: * 'Evidence-based coaching' (see: https://www.bol.com/nl/p/evidence-based-coachen/9200000103615781/ ) * 'Mindfulness op het werk', on the use of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy in the context of work, see: https://www.bol.com/nl/p/mindfulness-op-het-werk/9200000036494828/?bltgh=jELP4klMD-jPPU4JMDlLKg.1_4.10.ProductImage * 'IBCT relatietherapie', see: https://www.boompsychologie.nl/product/100-9358_Behandelprotocol-IBCT-relatietherapie
